This year’s recipient of the Congressman Robert A. Borski Award for Lifetime Achievement will be our father, Mark Hankin for his support over the last 12 years in the creation of this important new park along the Delaware River in Northeast Philadelphia.
DRCC was formed in 2004 by former Congressman Robert Borski. The mission of DRCC is to complete and sustain the riverfront trail and a network of parks along the Delaware River to connect residents of the urban neighborhoods in Philadelphia to nature, offering unparalleled recreational, community building and environmental education activities. When completed, the 11 miles of riverfront Greenway will include trails, parks, green connector streets and trailheads with parking and restaurants extending from Polaski Park to Glen Foerd at the Philadelphia/Bucks County line. DRCC has currently completed 5.2 miles of trails. This month they will have a groundbreaking for the next mile of the trail.
This trail is part of the National East Coast Greenway, a designated National Millennium Trail which will extend 3,000 miles providing on and off-road bike trails from Maine to Florida.
